Introduction to the Episode: 

In this episode we interview Dr. Jane McCurley and Dr. Val Morrison, Commissioners for the American Nursing Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence® Program. 

The Pathway to Excellence® is an ANCC designation.  It focuses on six standards to support culture and practice environments including different healthcare environments such as long-term care facilities and CVS MinuteClinic®.  

Jane shares with us the origins of the Pathway to Excellence® and why it was developed.

Jane and Val talk about their journey as leaders in Pathway to Excellence® hospitals and as commissioners.  

During the interview we also talk about what the standards are and how the standards support interprofessional collaboration and how leaders from the different health professions can engage in the program.

One of the standards in the program is well-being. Val and Jane share how healthcare organizations meet this standard in innovative and unique ways.

We close the interview talking about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the significance of the well-being standard and the need for leaders and organizations to be vigilant about personal and professional well-being and resilience.
